Ecomuseum of Marquèze
Just 40 minutes from L’Arbre d’Or campsite in the Landes on the D160 via Labouheyre and then the D626 to Sabres, the Marquèze Ecomuseum is dedicated to passing on the cultural heritage and traditions of the Grande Lande.
Eco Museum of Marquèze
At the Marquèze Ecomuseum, visitors can discover the rural life of the period in the large wetland area that was replaced by the Landes forest at the end of the 19th century. An open-air museum, the site recreates a 19th-century Landes village and the methods used to raise Landes ewes, tended by these emblematic shepherds on stilts. Open from late March to early November, the site can be reached from Sabres aboard the resiniers train, dating from the very early 20th century. The eco-museum takes a minimum of 3 hours to visit, and can easily keep you busy for an entire day. Numerous workshops and activities punctuate your visit, featuring traditional crafts and games.
