The Banc d’Arguin
The Banc d’Arguin is a vast sandbank, classified as a National Nature Reserve in 1972. Located around 35 km from the campsite, it can be reached by boat for the day. In fact, it’s a major bird nesting area. Take a dip in the crystal-clear water and stroll along the sand, playing Robinson Crusoe. Then discover the oyster huts and taste the delicious oysters of the Bay of Arcachon.
Prés Salés Ouest
Also known as “schorre”, the Prés Salés Ouest is a 41-hectare cove on the southern edge of the Bay of Arcachon. The landscape changes with the seasons and the tides. This natural site is sure to delight nature lovers! Don’t forget your binoculars for migratory bird watching. They are about 40 km from the campsite.

Around Bird Island
It is about 80 km from the campsite.
As its name suggests, this island is rich in birdlife. This little corner of paradise is not open to visitors. However, you can embark by boat or sea kayak. It’s a great way to see migratory and wintering birds. Take time to admire the famous Tchanquées huts!
La Teste-de-Buch municipal market
It’s one of the Gironde’s biggest markets, around 40 km from the campsite.
Stroll among its stalls, rich in color and flavour. Here you can stock up on vegetables and fruit, as well as textiles and shoes. What’s more, retailers are offering open-air tasting evenings.
Lake Cazaux
Located around 37 km from the campsite, it’s the second largest freshwater lake in France. During the summer season, enjoy the fine sandy beaches and wild cirques. If you like water sports, try your hand at sailing, paddling or canoeing.
